Mt Whitney: photo courtesy of Stan Silverman
Here in Lone Pine, CA with spectacular view of Mt Whitney, tallest in continental US at 14,505 ft. Does anyone know who the hell the mountain is named after? Thank god for Wikipedia: In July 1864, the members of the California Geological Survey named the peak after Josiah Whitney, the State Geologist of California and benefactor of the Survey.
Found the best breakfast on the trip at the Alabama Hills Cafe. After a breakfast of Chorizo scramble and pancakes I now have to bike 70 miles on US-395 May be that last bite was too much. So far California is not what I pictured.
